Proposal: How to make a proposal to the newly formed senate

Post  Burnesrael on Tue Apr 24, 2012 11:16 pm

I'm wondering what kind of system we shall have for the ordinary citizen to propose proposals to our legislative body.

Our options (I'll pull a Lax and make a nice list haha):

    1) We could create a forum where anyone could propose a new idea for the Senate to look over and possibly turn into a bill to be legislated and voted on.

    2) The endorsement method. Citizens with ideas would have to talk a Senator into endorsing their proposal, and presenting it to the rest of the Senate.

The former would be more open and easy for citizens to propose new things for the region, while the latter would be more realistic.

    Ideas?

That's my best pick. I like the idea of presenting the proposal to the rest of the Senate.

I am more partial to that method as well.

This is ironic, how will I propose this bill, outlining the method to propose a bill?

Also, there does have to be a point when the Constitution is set in stone, only to be changed by the vote of the Senate, rather than having revision by our benevolent founder. I'm not saying it has to be immediately, because if we don't start off with a good constitution it'll be hard to move through the legislative process to get every detail right. I'm just saying that there has to be a point when the founder steps back and lets the Senate take the reigns on Constitutional amending

I'm for number 2. Almost like how we Americans "call our rep" when we get pissed off. Very Happy

And Burnesrael, when the Senate chooses a Speaker, they will then have to vote on the Constitution to be ordained as law. If it passes, I can't touch it anymore without passing an Amendment through the senate with a 2/3 supermajority.
