I believe that the current political climate has shown that the regional government's productivity can be badly slowed down by an inactive speaker.

To make it more fair to those players that are actually active, I believe we should move to a weekly election system for Senators. Senators will not need to campaign if they show their mettle through activity in the government. Actions do speak louder than words. Senators will not be on the constant campaign trail like we feared. And even if they are, which would hurt the region more, inactive senators or transparent government that must hold itself to the will of the people? If elections are frequent, the only way to continually gain office is to do what the people want.

I believe that the benefits of a 7day system far outweigh the costs.

I also think that we should give some government figure the power to decide that in the future, 7day elections may be too hectic and draining on our Senators. I think that allowing the Founder the ultimate power in deciding election periods is fair and just.

    What does the region think?

I do agree with the sentient that elections to the senate must now change, as we have seen a very inactive senate. I think 7 days is a little too short, I would still keep A 30 day term, but propose we change the system to a adoption of say the UK system, where elections can be called before the term limit (in this case 30 days). Power should remain in the senate, with a simple Bill calling for the dissolution of the Senate. If the Senate is active, then Senators shall vote No, if on the other hand it is inactive, the Senator who remains shall more than likely vote in favour of the dissolution of the Senate, in favour of a more active one next next time, where the likelihood is they shall be re-elected.

Of course there are limits to this, and on quick reflection, pe haps it would be best to incorporate this idea in a 2 week life span limit of the Senate, with the option of putting forward a Bill to dissolve kt from within.

The current election cycle calls for a bi-montly senate election.

And we do have a "vote of no confidence" bill that you are describing, in the Constitution. The constitution that the senate is failing to pass.

The term lengths in the Constitution are in conflict with each other. Section 8 is different than sections 1 2 and 3
okay I guess the calendar section hasn't been added yet. I'll talk to lax

A no confidence bill wouldn't usually call for an election, but a change of Government within the already elected pool.

Hahaha yea it can't yet apparently as there was no time limit on the poll, so we have to wait for guideline bill to pass before the constitution can pass, as it has a majority in favour. It's unfortunate and kinda silly that the document empowering the government hasn't even had ratification.

We need an amendment pretty much immediately in it, to call on 14 day senate elections. But as amendments need a super majority, that ain't happening.... Any other ideas?

Sure I understand why we need conflicting election - I'm sure we can work something out

    This isn't America.
They fully thought through their Constitution before they set it into stone. We have not. It is clear that changes will need to be made by our Founder before it is complete and ready for the Congress.

Nah the beauty of the American constitution is that it never was set in stone and a guide to governance, that is hugely vague. There's nothing hugely wrong with Lax's constitutional document, it just relies on people.....
